Dermatology

Dermatology involves diagnosing and treating a wide range of skin and hair conditions. It covers common problems such as eczema, dermatosis, psoriasis, acne, moles and warts through to various skin cancers as well as procedures to improve the aesthetic appearance of the skin and hair.

We have a very experienced consultant dermatologist, Dr Neena Nayak, who holds regular private clinics at New Hall Hospital. She holds an NHS Consultant post and is registered on the specialist register for surgery at the General Medical Council (GMC). Dr Nayak diagnoses and treats patients with general dermatology problems and skin cancer.

Our radiology department offers high quality diagnostic imaging services and we have a multidisciplinary team of specialist experts as required. Dr Nayak understands the impact skin and hair conditions can have on her patient’s self-confidence and their personal wellbeing and she advises the most appropriate treatment for each patient to help improve them.

New Hall Hospital offers surgical and non-surgical treatments for our patients based on their specific skin care needs.

Surgical treatments include the use of Mohs surgery, the most effective and advanced treatment of skin cancer today. Mohs surgery completely removes cancer cells whilst sparing the greatest amount of healthy tissue surrounding them. Also minor skin surgery is performed for the excision of skin lesions (lumps or bumps on your skin) including moles, cysts, warts or skin tags).

Non-surgical treatments include: cryotherapy for skin lesions (warts and keratosis), steroid creams for eczema, dermatitis and psoriasis, isotretinoin for severe acne and medications for fungal toes and hands. We also offer non-surgical cosmetic treatments including: dermal fillers and treatments to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and, therapies to camouflage various medical conditions (hair loss, scarring, uneven pigmentation) that can impact on the way patients look. We do not offer an allergy testing service.

To make a private appointment with our consultant dermatologist you will need a GP referral regarding your condition to be sent to New Hall Hospital. Dr Nayak will review the referral and her secretary will contact you to arrange your private appointment.

If you have any questions, please contact our friendly customer services team on 01722 435149 or Dr Nayak’s medical secretary, Annette Hounslow, on 07775 502030.
