New Hall Hospital were recently approached by Kate Green, daughter of New Hall employee Louisa Green, to sponsor a local charity event raising money for YoungMinds.

Kate and her team have been working with the National Citizen Service (NCS) - a government run scheme that aims to improve the confidence of young people and equip them with life skills that they can use in their adulthood. One way they do this, is by getting young people involved in their greater community through project work; this involves planning and executing fundraising and volunteer work with a charity chosen by their group.  Kate and her team – ‘NCS Trojans’ decided to fundraise for YoungMinds - one of the very few mental health charities that are able provide support to under 18's. Mental health issues have become "normal for teenagers nowadays" which many parents find quite scary, which is where YoungMinds come in and provide reassurance and support to not only the young person but to their parent/s through the parents helpline. They also provide useful information and support on their website for those who need it or just want to learn more about mental health.

Kate said “I would like to thank New Hall on behalf of my team ‘NCS Trojans’ for their sponsorship of our event NCS Kidsfest. Their support will help aid the effort to combat the growing levels of anxiety, depression and other mental illnesses in teenagers and young children”.
