Cosmetic Face Surgery

Face surgery offers facial rejuvenation to both men and women. At New Hall Hospital it’s one of our most popular cosmetic surgeries. This isn’t surprising as ageing of the face is inevitable and can cause feelings of self-consciousness.

Over time skin begins to loosen on the face and neck with crow’s feet appearing at the corners of the eyes, fine forehead lines become creases and then deeper folds, the jawline softens into jowls and, beneath the chin another chin or folds may develop at the front of the neck. Lifestyle factors such as sun exposure, smoking, stress and significant weight loss can lead to premature ageing of the face.

Facial surgery can help restore a more youthful and aesthetically pleasing facial look. Some people are born with facial features they aren’t happy with such as a large nose or protruding ears and facial surgery can help change these features too.

Here at New Hall Hospital we offer a wide range of facial treatments to help create a younger looking face and improve facial features. Our face surgeries include: facelift, blepharoplasty, brow lift, rhinoplasty and otoplasty. Our non-surgical cosmetic facial options include: dermal fillers and muscle relaxing injections, laser resurfacing, facial peels, acne treatment and, medical tattooing for health issues that have an impact on your appearance.

A facelift is medically known as a rhytidectomy and it focuses on returning your face to its former glory. It’s popular with both men and women. During the procedure slack facial skin is removed and pulled upwards and backwards to produce a smoother and more youthful appearance to your face.

Some people choose to combine a facelift with another cosmetic facial procedure, such as a blepharoplasty that reduces eye bags, to achieve optimum results.

A facelift is performed under general anaesthetic and typically takes between three and four hours. It involves your cosmetic surgeon making small incisions within your hair line and to your earlobe so that they can access loose facial muscle and remove slack skin. The remaining facial skin is carefully and precisely sutured into place.

A blepharoplasty procedure is also called eye bag removal or eyelid surgery. It’s performed to rejuvenate your eyes and reduce signs of ageing in men and women. During the procedure excess, baggy skin is removed below the eyes and loose, lined and crepe-like skin above the eyes is smoothed.

You can choose to have an upper, lower or upper and lower blepharoplasty. An upper blepharoplasty treats loose or lined skin on your upper lid area. A lower blepharoplasty aims to reduce the eye bag effect.

Your cosmetic surgeon will undertake a blepharoplasty whilst you’re under general anaesthetic and it normally takes one or two hours. It’s mainly performed as a cosmetic procedure but it can also help with sight problems related to sagging upper eyelids.

Eyebrow lift/hitch

An eyebrow hitch is a simple procedure performed under local anaesthetic to restore the youthful feminine arch to the eyebrow. It opens up the eye area and takes some of the heaviness of the upper eyelid away.

Your cosmetic surgeon will make a small incision within the hair of the outer part of your eyebrow. A stitch is passed from the under-surface of the skin, attached to the forehead and then tightened to elevate the outer part of the eyebrow.  No stitches are normally required on the surface of the skin. The procedure takes about an hour.

A rhinoplasty, also known as nose reshaping or a nose job, changes the shape and size of your nose. It’s possible to change the size and shape of your nose from the tip to the bridge as well as the angle between your nose and top lip.

You may choose a rhinoplasty if your unhappy with the size or shape of your nose. It may be that you feel your nose is too large or disproportional to your face or it might be an irregular shape, possibly following an injury.

A reduction rhinoplasty makes your nose smaller. During this procedure your cosmetic surgeon will modify or remove bone and cartilage and reshape your nose and in some case your nostrils too.  An augmentation rhinoplasty makes your nose larger. This is achieved by reshaping the bone or cartilage in your nose or using a graft of extra bone.

A rhinoplasty is performed under general anaesthetic and usually takes up to three hours.

An otoplasty is an ear correction procedure and looks to modify irregular shaped or protruding ears. People with ears that stick out or are disproportionately large or, have become misshapen whilst being involved in activities such as rugby, can feel emotionally distressed and self-consciousness.

An otoplasty is a straightforward day case procedure that takes between one and two hours. It’s performed under general anaesthetic and your surgeon will make a small incision behind your ear so that scarring is hidden. They will move your ears into a more natural looking position closer to your head and remove or adjust the shape of the cartilage.
