Radiology Department
A team of four Radiographers in addition to a Healthcare Assistant, an Administrative Assistant, and a team of Bank Radiographers provide a high quality diagnostic imaging service to all patients and departments within the hospital, as well as providing Outpatient and GP services to both private patients and patients referred from the NHS.
The radiologists who make up the Salisbury Radiology Group pride themselves on being dynamic and progressive, covering all radiological specialities. We have three musculoskeletal radiologists, specialised breast radiologists, and radiologists who specialise in gastroenterology related conditions.

The Radiology Department at New Hall Hospital are able to offer the following services:
General Radiography
All General Radiography Examinations
Barium Swallows
X-ray guided injections for pain relief including foraminal and facet injections and Rhysolysis
Ultrasound
General ultrasound is undertaken by the Consultant Radiologists, Monday – Friday every week and includes abdominal, thyroid, breast, and musculoskeletal scanning. The day your appointment can take place depends on the speciality required.
Ultrasound guided biopsies are performed by the Consultant Radiologists throughout the week.
Our resident podiatrist Miss Claire Freeman undertakes ultrasound guided injections for her patients usually on a Tuesday afternoon.
Doppler (veins) - scans are carried out by our visiting Senior Vascular Radiographer Linda Harris in conjunction with the Consultant Vascular Surgeon Mr Charles Ranabaldo every Tuesday afternoon.
Obstetric and gynaecological scanning undertaken by our senior visiting ultrasonographers Kate Hobson and Debbie Gunn are carried out on a Thursday afternoon . Additional sessions can be arranged for our patients
MRI Scans
Under the management of Sarah Ventham the MRI Superintendent and her staff of 3 radiographers and 1 HCA a variety of MRI imaging is undertaken at our onsite MRI suite.
Installed as a new build in 2017 the 3 year old scanner is a wide bore Siemens 1.5T Aera
In order to book an MRI a Consultant referral is required and privately insured patients will also need to obtain authorisation from their insurer before an appointment can be booked.

CT service
New Hall Hospital currently provides a Mobile CT scanning service twice a month on a Tuesday. Appointments are available from 8.15am - 7.30pm and are booked by Radiology with a Consultant referral. Privately insured patients will also need to obtain authorisation from their insurer before an appointment can be booked.
Enquiries
For general radiography and for some ultrasound examinations, the department can see patients on the same day. The department is able to see patients usually within a week for all other appointments that require preparations or a specialised radiologist.
The department is open 5 days a week:
Monday to Friday: 8.30am - 6pm

- We do not accept NHS GP Radiology referrals
- Choose & Book/Patients Choice patients can attend for Radiology procedures if referred to the department in the first instance by a New Hall Consultant
- Reports for your GP will be emailed back to the surgery and/or sent in the post
