General Surgery

General surgery is the surgical treatment of wide range of common health problems caused by injury, deformity or disease, with a particular interest in acute abdominal conditions.

New Hall Hospital offers an extensive outpatient and inpatient general surgery service for patients in the surrounding area of Wiltshire. We offer regular and convenient outpatient appointments with our expert general surgeons. Investigative tests can be undertaken onsite as required by our diagnostic service including ultrasound, x-ray, MRI or CT scan.

Our highly skilled general surgeons operate on common abdominal complaints including: hernias, haemorrhoids, appendicitis, anal fissure and fistula, lumps and bumps, gallbladder problems, pilonidal sinus and lipomas.

Many procedures are performed using minimally invasive surgery and open surgery is carried out when appropriate. This means that whenever possible our patients benefit from shorter hospital stays, faster recovery time, less pain and bleeding after the operation and reduced scarring.

Between our team of consultant general surgeons, we have specialists in breast, colorectal and vascular conditions. All of our consultants hold an NHS consultant post and they are registered on the specialist register for surgery at the General Medical Council (GMC).

You can rest-assured that you’ll be in safe hands from your first appointment through to diagnosis, treatment and post-surgery care. The following Consultant General Surgeons offer a number of procedures at New Hall Hospital:
